Passenger Fares – Rural
Effective date: 1 July 2023
The Queensland government regulates maximum fares for the following journeys:
The driver must not charge more than the maximum fare:
- All rank and hail trips – there is no booking fee.
- Booked services for Taxi Subsidy Scheme (TSS) members or customers using a wheelchair who require a wheelchair-accessible taxi (WAT) – any booked fares will attract a $1.70 booking fee.
Drivers may not refuse these trips without a reasonable excuse and must use the meter if the fare is not agreed in advance.

Fares are calculated by adding the charges listed below (minimum charges plus distance plus waiting time).

Note 2: All fares are GST inclusive.
Multiple hiring: permitted with consent of the first and subsequent hirers for hirers travelling in the same locality or general direction. Each hirer is advised of the rate of discount applying or the applicable fare before the journey starts.
